UH to open pediatric specialty clinic in Willoughby - cleveland.com

Willoughby, Ohio — University Hospitals will expand its specialty care for children in Lake County with a new pediatric clinic opening Monday.

The clinic, located at 4176 Ohio Route 306 in Willoughby is geared toward attracting patients from Lake, Ashtabula and Geauga counties, the hospital said.

The clinic will be called the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Multispecialty Clinic at UH Perrico Health Center. It will offer pediatric services in pulmonology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, urology and neurosurgery, as well as general surgery, sports medicine, orthopedics, endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology and neurology.

"We are excited to bring specialized pediatric care for common childhood conditions like allergies, asthma, diabetes and sports injuries closer to home for families in Lake and surrounding counties," said Patti DePompei, president of UH Rainbow Babies & Children's and UH MacDonald Women's hospitals.

The pediatric services currently offered at the UH Mentor Hopkins Health Center will transition to the Perrico clinic in Willoughby, 5 miles away. The new building will triple the size of the previous clinic's footprint with 11 examination rooms and space for telehealth. Adult service at UH Mentor Hopkins will not change.

The enlarged space will allow the hospital to expand its pediatric offerings beyond what is currently available at Mentor, including echocardiography. Dr. Robyn Strosaker, president and chief operating officer of UH Lake West, TriPoint and Beachwood medical centers, said these changes will help meet the current and future needs of a rapidly growing population.

"This expansion of pediatric specialty services will have a significant impact on the health of children in the community," said Strosaker.
